Abstract
The analysis of data on the radionuclide adsorption in the gastrointestinal tract of farm animals and poultry obtained in field and laboratory experiments from 1960s up to present time is given. Radionuclides adsorption coefficients can be ranked as follows: 239Pu < 144Ce ≈ 91Y < 54Mn ≈ 95Zr ≈ 106Ru ≈ 238U < 210Pb ≈ 60Co ≈ 59Fe ≈ 140Ba ≈ 110mAg ≈ 210Po ≈ 185W < 45Ca ≈ 65Zn ≈ 90Sr ≈ Te ≈ 226Ra < 137Cs ≈ 32P ≈ 99Tc < 3H < 131I. The information presented can be used for: 1) assessing consequences of radioactive contamination of the environment, 2) models development of radionuclide transfer to animals, (iii) estimation of acceptable levels of radionuclide concentrations in the animal tissues and to develop measures to reduce the radionuclides transfer from feed to animal products.
