Abstract
Objective to study the effect of the total external action γ-radiation on the Ca2+ and calmodulin in lymphocytes and platelets isolated from the blood of cows. The animals were exposed to the total external action γ-radiation at the installation «GUZH-24» (Russia) (137Cs radiation source with gamma quanta energy of 0,67 MeV at a dose of 1 Gr/h. Experimental groups of cows were irradiated at doses of 3.5 and 6 Gr. The Ca2+ content in animal cells and blood plasma was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry and the calmodulin concentration was determined by radioimmunological method. The cows of the experimental groups developed acute radiation sickness of varying severity. The development of radiation pathology in animals during 1-30 days after external exposure to γ-radiation in the studied doses was accompanied by an increase in the content of Ca2+ in lymphocytes the higher, the absorber dose of γ-radiation and un increase in the amount of calmodulin in platelets. The obtained experimental data give reason to assume, that the total external influence of γ-radiation in the studies doses on the body of cows causes a violation of the functioning of Ca2+-dependent signal system an the studied cell populations.
