Abstract

In the present article, we describe the dosimetric model for the formation of the absorbed dose rate in the upper soil layers of pine biogeocoenoses from external β- and γ-radiation in a single radioactive fallout. It is shown that the dynamics of the dose rate and the contribution to the dose rate of various types of ionizing radiation depend on the composition of radioactive fallout and the age of the pine plantation. The predominance of short-lived radionuclides in the composition of deposition determines the decrease in the absorbed dose rate throughout the soil profile, whereas the increase in the dosage index during the first months after radioactive fallout is predetermined by medium- and long-lived radionuclides. An increase in the absorbed dose rate is found in the surface soil layers in proportion to the age of the pine stands. The decisive role of β-radiation in the formation of a dose is shown in the upper soil layers (<0.5 cm) of plantations of older age.
