Abstract

This work is devoted to a review of published results on the genetic instability of yeast cells, quantified by the delay in the formation of colonies by cells surviving after irradiation. It was shown that genetic instability is determined by cell ploidy regardless of their radiosensitivity and cell ability to recover radiation damage. It has been shown that the RBE of 239Pu α-particles is practically the same for both cell survival and genetic instability of diploid and haploid yeast cells.
