Abstract

Peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) of patients with prostate cancer and healthy donors have been investigated using methods of the metaphase chromosome analysis and micronuclei test. Also studies are: a) the influence of tumor cells on the PBL (the study of genomic damage to PBL of the patients), b) the sensitivity to γ-irradiation exposure in vitro (0.05 Gy), c) the influence of blood plasma of the patients with prostate cancer on the healthy donor PBL and d) interaction between donor PBL and PBL of cancer patients (experiments in vitro). It has been shown that sensitivity to the γ-irradiation exposure in vitro (0.05 Gy) of prostate cancer patients' PBL is slightly increased in comparison with that of PBL from healthy donors (the differences are insignificant). Tumor cells in the organism were shown to have an effect on PBL, which results in enhanced chromosome aberration frequencies. Blood plasma of cancer patients causes an increase of chromosome aberrations in the donor blood lymphocytes. This makes it possible to come to the conclusion that tumor cells influence normal PBL and that this phenomenon is similar to a bystander effect.

FAQs

What are the maximum and minimum lengths of a manuscript?

The length of a manuscript should be justified by its content.

Must the original files of illustrations be submitted along with the manuscript?

Yes, by all means. The original of an illustration is the file of illustration in its original format. Photographs should best be submitted in tiff format with the resolution at least 300 dpi.
