Abstract

Cosmic radiation is a very important factor which influences astronauts’ health during a space flight. Brain structures are sensitive to this type of radiation. According to the actual research of the chemical protection that can stabilize damage to astronauts, integration function of radiation affects is up to date. The aim of the work is to study the effects of medical drug «Semaks» on the behaviour, strength of skeletal musculature, bone marrow failure and morphological neuron changes in the mouse brain that is irradiated by accelerated protons. We have discovered that «Semaks» stabilizes the emotional state on 7th day after irradiation by accele-rated protons with 2.3 and 3Gy doses following by every day application of the drug. Use of the drug repairs the level of the skeletal musculature strength of the irradiated mice. We have found out that it is comparable to the control group. Application of «Semaks» in irradiated mice did not have any negative effects or induced a pronounced radiation sickness. Morphological analysis shows that neurons in the sensomotoric area of animals, which are given, are in the same condition as in the control group. There is almost no vascular damage in the sensomotoric area in the group of the animals that are given the «Semaks» drug.
