Abstract

The methodological and practical support of the experiments aimed at investigating the effects of low dose irradiation (≤ 200 mGy) at low dose rates (≤ 0.1 mGy /min) on living objects is highly important. The «Panorama» facility (137Cs γ-radiation with energy of 661.66 keV) is useful for long-term experiments with a number of absorbed doses for different dose rates (from 1.5 mGy/min to 0.002 µGy/min). The «Panorama» allows one to conduct studies both in vitro and in vivo without changing the usual conditions for the existence of organisms; to investigate the effects of irradiation on the objects of complex ecosystems and on the entire populations of organisms during the development phase; to study the modifying factors of different nature influencing the response formation. Such studies have not only scientific but also practical outcome.
